Here are five old-fashioned relationship habits we should bring back:
Spending quality time with one another without technology or any major plans
Some of the best moments we have with our partners are the ones that are spent doing absolutely nothing together. The next time you’re with your partner try to avoid using any laptops or phones and do something simple, like going for a walk or having a fun conversation.
You don’t have to make big plans to be together–just make sure that you’re spending time together as often as possible, face to face.
Being fully present and available in the moment
Have you ever started telling a story only to find that no one is listening to you just seconds into it? It’s not a good feeling. One of the best ways to show your partner that you care about them is by being fully attentive and focused on what they’re saying to you.
Your partners, friends, and family members will always remember how you made them feel by giving them the time of day.
A focus on inner beauty
It’s a funny thing, when you really get to know someone, on a deeper level than usual, their physical characteristics start to fade away when you look at them. Their outward appearance is no longer important, as you’re focused on their energy, their scent, their intelligence.
This is why none of us are really capable of falling in love with physical attributes.
Apologizing at the right times
Being proud is a good trait to have, to an extent. But never let your pride cloud your judgment. If you’ve wronged someone and know that you’ve hurt them, apologize and seek out forgiveness. Relationships that last a lifetime don’t do so by being stubborn.
Say you’re sorry and mean it.
Be loyal and never break promises
A trait that I’ve always admired in people is their ability to commit to things. Those people that stand by their word and speak with meaning. They follow through on their promises, sometimes even over-delivering, doing more than what’s required simply because they know it matters.
Be one of those people who goes above and beyond for their friends, family members and partners.
