The benefits of sleeping naked

The benefits of sleeping naked
Silk nightgown or t-shirt? Flannel pajamas or boxers? You may be surprised that what you wear to bed—or don’t wear to bed, can have an effect on your body. According to Dr. Travis Bradberry, co-author of the bestselling book “Emotional Intelligence 2.0,” sleeping naked reduces stress, can boost your metabolism, and is a powerful confidence booster.
Yet, only 8 percent of Americans sleep naked, according to The Huffington Post food and health editor, Kate Bratskeir. The benefits of sleeping in the nude are vast, according to Trisha Bartle of Allday. For both women and men, going commando helps prevent bacteria from growing in unwanted regions. A sexier reason for tossing your panties at night is the greater likelihood of initiating sex with your partner. Plus, men who sleep naked have a higher sperm count.
An article by Lizette Borreli in Medical Daily explains that couples who sleep together naked tend to have happier marriages and relationships. In fact, a Cotton USA poll found that 57 per cent of British couples who sleep in the nude report being happy in their relationships. Further, a whopping 94 percent of couples who sleep with their skin touching report being happy with their relationships.
Not only does sleeping nude improve relationships, but it also makes hair and skin look better, according to Cosmopolitan. The magazine explains this is because when you are too warm at night, melatonin and growth hormone, both of which are responsible for anti-aging, do not release into the body properly. Sleeping in cooler temperatures sans clothes also helps regulate the stress hormone cortisol, which means you will wake up more relaxed and be less likely to crave greasy sugary foods, and are thus less likely to pack on unwanted pounds.
