5 Practical Steps to Attract Prosperity

Prosperity is not all about hard physical efforts and long working hours. There are many people out there who despite working 10-20 hours a day, are not very prosperous. It means that besides intelligent hard work, there should be other factors affecting our prosperity level as well.

You might have heard many stories and might have read many articles about positive thinking, law of attraction and visualizing you are rich; in fact all these ideas and systems are using the same principle; the principle of energy!
In fact prosperity is a type of energy that flows to people who welcome it.
According to Master Choa Kok Sui, “Money is like a woman! If you say you don’t like her, she will go away.”
So one of the basic requirements to have lots of money is to welcome it with open arms. Often people in spirituality have negative thoughts about money. There are many people who think, “money is not good,” “money is the source of all evil” and spiritual people are not supposed to be prosperous.

Think about it! Often lack of money is the source of evil! And if money is in the hands of the right people, it can help and reach out to many more, and can be used for the good of humanity!
“The highest use of capital is not to make more money but to make money do more for the betterment of life.” Henry Ford

So the first step to get more prosperous is to remove “poverty consciousness” and all negative thoughts and beliefs about money and prosperity and then move on following the below:

1. Give Away Money
If you look at the lives of many billionaires, you can see something common in them; they all do charity work!
Warren Buffett, David Geffen, Bill Gates, Michael Bloomberg and George Kaiser are examples of such.

Based on the “Law of Cause and Effect,” also called the Law of Karma in traditional literature, what you give, will come back to you tenfold.
So if you want money, you need to give money away to charitable organizations and to people in need and the amount you give should be proportionate to what you are willing to receive. Giving donation and tithing is in fact one of the fastest and most reliable investments to gain more.

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38
The Law of Karma can be explained in the farmer’s language, so simple to understand.

A farmer who wants to harvest a specific crop, should plant the seeds first. The farmer cannot tell the universe that let me harvest first, then I will plant the seeds coming from my harvest! It has never worked that way.
In inner sciences, the Law of Karma is believed to be very exact.

You may accept it; or you may not; but the Law of Karma doesn’t care whether we believe it or not. It is exact just as the Law of Gravity. It is up to us to harness it to our benefit or to be controlled by it.
The rule is so simple; if you want money, you should give away money!
“No one has ever become poor by giving.” Anne Frank

2. Avoid Stealing
Stealing generates the negative karma of poverty. Avoid stealing physically, emotionally and even mentally.
Basically we are not supposed to take things that do not belong to us. Stealing money is a very obvious type of stealing and therefore normally easy to practice by most, but also watch out for piracy, misusing office belongings, coveting the spouse of another and the credit that rightly belongs to others.
There is a saying that “cheats never prosper.”
In fact envious thoughts and feelings are also a type of stealing as they create sticky thought forms that go and stick to the person’s aura, pulling him/her down.
“An inability to feel happy when other people are successful will pull you down. Avoid enviousness.” Master Choa Kok Sui

Watch out for all these behavioral patterns!
Furthermore try to be on time in paying your debts. If you have a business also try to pay your staff well and on time. If you have payments to settle and rentals to pay, make them on time.
If you delay in paying other people and you pay less than what you need to pay, money will come back to you with delay and less than expected. In fact underpaying is also a form of stealing.

3. Save and Invest
Saving is what many people fail to practice which can really get a prosperous person go bankrupt.
There is proverb saying, “The art is not in making money, but in keeping it.”
From your income it is recommended to save at least 10%. You may gradually increase your monthly saving to 30% after you paid all your debts.  After all “a penny saved, is a penny earned!”
What can help you save better and avoid using your saved money is to open a separate bank account for your savings; otherwise there is a tendency to spend your savings in times of difficulty.
“Put your financial life on autopilot as a form of ‘forced’ saving.” Suze Orman

By practicing the science of giving and tithing, within few months time or a few years you start seeing money flowing to you like a river. The mistake of many people here is buying expensive cars and houses in installment, which leaves them with plenty of monthly debts. This affects their tithing and saving capacity.

When tithing is stopped, they income reduces gradually. What is left here will be less income and more debts.
Don’t fall into this trap!
Be realistic. Think, analyze and then spend money.
Besides saving money, it is also recommended to invest. Investment provides more opportunities to gain more, but try to maintain plenty of liquidity at all times. Have you heard people say “the poor usually get poorer and the rich get richer.”

If you invest in the right business, more money comes back to you. But before you invest, assess the risks and make a right decision. Think about the worst situation. If something goes wrong, can you handle the risks?!

If you want to start your own business calculate your expenses and the profit. One of the common problems in business is the inability to calculate the profit and expenses so sometimes the expenses tend to overpass the profit.
Try to make your business and your projects self-financing.

4. Buy Good Quality
Good quality is not always the most expensive!
In fact it is not the matter of buying expensive or not, what is important is to buy good quality.
There is a proverb that says: “I am not rich enough to buy cheaply.”
It sounds like a paradox but it is actually true. If you spend on buying cheap stuff, you might need to buy them again in a couple of months, as they won’t work long enough. So it is better to pay higher once, and save the future expenses.

Furthermore buying cheap stuff normally costs you time, repair time to time and sometimes frustrations. In fact cheap always cost you more in the end.
As the Germans say “what is cheap is most costly!”

5. Create Prosperity Consciousness
Prosperity consciousness is basically what helps you attract money.
In order to get more money therefore we need to change our attitude towards it.
If you are among the group of people who cannot ask for money for all the work or service you have done, or you feel guilty about it you have poverty consciousness.

If you think you cannot get rich, or you do not deserve to be rich you need to work on this aspect. If you think having lots of money will affect your character and you are afraid of getting rich, you have poverty consciousness. Unfortunately these kinds of attitudes and beliefs are more seen among people in the spiritual path as there is an old belief that “prosperity and spirituality does not come together.”
It is in fact time to revise our thinking pattern. Money is basically a form of energy.

It is concretized energy and is neutral; not good nor bad. It brings power and of course responsibility.
“Wealth is not to feed our egos, but to feed the hungry and to help people help themselves.” Andrew Carnegie

Think about it, if spiritual people get more prosperous, wouldn’t they help more people in need?! Wouldn’t they give more money to charity, which removes poverty from the world?! And wouldn’t they support more humanitarian projects that can benefit the whole world?!

In fact according to one of the spiritual teachers of our time, Master Choa Kok Sui, “Spirituality and Materialism are like the two wings of a bird. We need both to fly.”

Besides changing our thinking pattern, we also need to improve our look. It is not the matter of wearing expensive cloths and accessories but to project a prosperous look.
Dressing well and being neat and clean help us to look more presentable to others and to ourselves. It also improves our self-confidence.

Using positive affirmations can further help us create prosperity consciousness. You may recite in a daily basis:
“I am prosperous and happy, money flows to me like a river, money rains on me like a waterfall, money comes to me easily and abundantly, so be it!
Try the above and see how you change your earning capacity and financial state in a matter of few months to few years! These steps are not written by one person or one nation, many spiritual teachers and successful businessmen were repeating them over and over again time after time. So they work. The bottom line is just practice and don’t give up until you see the results!
“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, your right.” Henry Ford
